iOS 27 Public Beta 3: What's New, and Will Siri AI Reach the UAE?
Apple pushed iOS 27 Public Beta 3 out this week, and it's the most substantial update to the beta cycle so far. The headline feature is Siri AI, the long-promised rebuild of Siri on top of Apple Intelligence, and for once the UAE might actually come out ahead of a major market.
What's new
Siri AI is the marquee addition. It's a genuine rebuild, not a patch: Siri can now hold an ongoing conversation, search your personal information across Mail, Messages, and Files, and understand what's on your screen well enough to act on it. This is the version of Siri Apple has been previewing since 2024.
Apple Intelligence gets deeper hooks across the system. Safari now organizes tabs automatically and flags when a page you're tracking changes. Photos adds Clean Up, Extend, and Spatial Reframing editing tools. Passwords auto-replaces weak, reused credentials. Calendar accepts natural-language event creation, "lunch with Ahmed next Tuesday at 1" style.
Performance is up across the board: Apple says apps launch roughly 30% faster, AirDrop transfers 80% faster, and photo imports 70% faster, with gains reaching back to iPhone 11.
Liquid Glass gets a transparency slider in Settings, letting you dial the translucent interface back if it's too much for your eyes or your wallpaper.
Screen Time is redesigned with Time Allowances by app category, Schedules for when apps are available, and an expanded "Ask to Browse" mode for the web, which will matter to a lot of UAE parents managing screen time across a household with multiple kids and devices.
The UAE angle
Here's the detail worth paying attention to: Siri AI won't launch in the EU right away. Apple hasn't fully explained why, but it's a safe bet the delay traces back to the EU's Digital Markets Act and the interoperability requirements it places on AI features tied this deeply into the OS.
The UAE isn't the EU. Historically, that's meant Apple Intelligence features have reached us on a timeline closer to the US than to Brussels, and there's no indication so far that Siri AI will be held back here the way it is in Europe. If that pattern holds, UAE users could be using conversational Siri AI before most of Western Europe gets it, which is a rare position for this market to be in.
The catch is hardware, not geography. Siri AI needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and some of the more advanced on-screen understanding features are reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro line, expected at Apple's September event. If you're on an iPhone 14 or older, this update is really about the performance and Screen Time improvements, not Siri.
The other open question is Arabic. Apple Intelligence's language rollout has historically lagged for Arabic compared to English, and Apple hasn't confirmed whether Siri AI's conversational features launch with full Arabic support or arrive later, the way several Apple Intelligence features did last cycle. Worth watching before you get too excited about talking to Siri in Arabic on day one.
How to get it
iOS 27 Public Beta 3 is available now through the Apple Beta Software Program. As always: back up first, and think twice before putting a beta on your primary device, especially this early in the cycle when Siri AI is still clearly a work in progress.
