Apple Is Building AI Straight Into Its Ad Platform. UAE Marketers Should Watch This Closely
Two of Apple's advertising products got a serious AI upgrade this year, and they're moving at very different speeds outside the US. If you run marketing for a UAE brand with an app or a physical location, both are worth understanding now rather than after the competition figures it out first.
Apple Search Ads gets AI bidding
Starting with iOS 26.2, App Store search ads expanded well beyond the keyword-results placement marketers are used to. Apple now runs ads across the Today tab, the Search tab, search results, and product pages, all from a single campaign.
The AI piece is Apple's new Maximize Conversions bidding strategy: instead of manually setting bids per keyword, Apple's algorithm bids and matches automatically to drive downloads. There's a compounding effect worth knowing about too. Search Ads installs that retain well feed back into Apple's organic ranking signals, so a well-targeted paid campaign can lift your organic keyword ranking over time, not just your paid numbers.
This is live now, and it's live in the UAE. Any UAE developer or brand running an app, in English or Arabic, should be testing Maximize Conversions against a manual campaign this quarter. The UAE's heavy iPhone penetration makes App Store visibility disproportionately valuable here compared to a lot of other markets.
Apple Maps Advertising: not here yet
The bigger long-term story is Apple Maps Advertising, launching this summer as part of the new Apple Business platform. Ads will appear directly in Maps search results and in "Suggested Places," which is Apple's answer to the local-search ad businesses Google has run for years.
The catch: it's launching in the US and Canada only, with no announced UAE date. For a market as dense with cafes, retail, and service businesses competing on foot traffic and local search as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, that's a real gap, and an opportunity for whoever positions early once it lands.
Apple's own recent pattern is worth noting here. Siri AI, part of iOS 27, is being held back in the EU but has no announced UAE restriction, meaning the UAE has landed ahead of major markets before. Maps Advertising, launching from a base of zero regions outside North America, is a different starting position: there's no precedent yet for how fast Apple brings a brand-new ad product to the Gulf.
What to actually do about it
Don't wait on Maps Advertising. Build the muscle now with what's already live: get Search Ads' AI bidding running properly, get your Apple Business Connect-successor brand profile (now folded into Apple Business) set up correctly across Maps, Siri, and Spotlight, so that whenever Maps Advertising does reach the UAE, you're not starting from a blank profile while competitors who prepared are already running.
